This is Mada's home...or at least, his new home at his aunt and uncle's house,
where he has only lived for a few short weeks. This village is 38 kilometers from Hope Village,
a 50-minute car ride, a 3-hour bike ride.
Mada's aunt and uncle are fairly successful farmers. This plot of farm land is right behind their home -- left barren because the ground was "not fertile". Godwins says this can be fixed by "Farming God's Way". Another project for another day!
Mada's aunt and uncle are very resourceful, as you can see from the many outbuildings in their fenced-in yard. They raise pidgins, goats, chickens.
Pictured here: Gracie on the left holding Mada's twin Joseph.
Matale on the right holding Baby Mada. Hard to believe they are twins.
Everyone came to greet us except Mada's uncle, who was still working in the field.
The aunt is standing behind all of the children: Gracie (11) holding Joseph (Mada's twin); Thomas (3); Matale (10) holding Mada; Chamanza (7)
In trying to show how low the house's roof is and how short the door is, I asked
Gracie and Matale to pose for a picture. Unknowingly, you cannot see their pretty faces!
This was a big journey and big day for Mada to go home to visit his family. He quickly fell asleep on Annie in the long car ride home...dreaming of his sweet family, I am sure!
